About Chess free

Three ways to play chess come together here: against the computer, against real players online, and against a friend on the same screen. The computer has 18 levels, from beginner up to world champion, and online games keep your rating.

The board sits in a dark interface with the move list beside it. In the game in progress you play black against an opponent called Nevill, who has opened with d3, and picking up a piece puts dots on the squares it can reach. Buttons give you undo, a hint, the rules, a shop and a Cancel button marked with a flag, and a smiley and a chat bubble sit next to your name.

Against the computer you also get tips during play, a choice of handicap and an analysis after each game that points out mistakes and better moves. Two players sharing a screen can choose bullet, blitz or rapid time controls. Click or tap to play.
