About Classic chess

Cream and brown squares fill the middle of the screen in Classic chess, with flat black and white pieces in their starting places and rows of colorful icons down both sides.

The usual rules apply. Each side has sixteen pieces, a king, a queen, two rooks, two bishops, two knights and eight pawns, and the goal is to checkmate the other king. Play against the computer, shown by a robot at a chessboard, or against another person on the same device, shown by two players at a table, and there are chess problems to solve as well. On the left, a white flag resigns, a handshake offers a draw and a small grid of numbers and letters is for the board's coordinates. On the right are two globe buttons, a trophy and a podium.
